Robert now attends the Pentre Corps but grew up at the corp at Bargoed where he played in the young people's band under the  leadership of Ron Price (another member of the Fellowship band).

In 1985 he moved to Risca then in 1987 to Pentre where he married his wife Anne. They have one daughter and one grand daughter.

At Pentre Robert plays in the band sings with the songsters and was  Corps Sergeant Major for 20 years.

Robert is a retired postman with 40 years service.

He previously played with the South Wales Divisional youth band and quotes his favourite band pieces as "The Kingdom Triumphant"  (Eric Ball) and "Coleg y fro" now known as Land of song (Norman Bearcroft) .

When asked his best banding memory Robert says "we had a blessed time when Pentre band visited Brussels".
